Ski & Golf Sponsors the Expo's Club Test and Driving Range
While it's informative to read about golf club test results
in the magazines, nothing beats gripping a new club and whacking
a few balls with it. That's the only true test to see if you want
to add that club to your bag.
So, plan to go hit some balls at the Colorado Ski & Golf sponsored
Club Test and Driving Range at the Denver Golf Expo.
With 12
hitting stations manned by Colorado Ski & Golf's trained staff
of golf technicians, the driving range is the place to be. Demo
clubs will include Cleveland, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno,
Taylor Made and Adams. The experts from Colorado Ski and Golf will
also assess your swing and fit a club to your swing and talent level.
The indoor driving range is the best way to try before you buy.
"We have the largest selection of clubs in the area and our
prices are the best in town," Jeff Ehring, Colorado Ski and
Golf representative says. "The timing is great because we will
just be back from the PGA show with some really great buys and specials
at the Golf Expo on shoes, balls, club sets, bags; you name it."
"Our staff knows the products and they are here to help you
all season long. And we set the prices. If anyone advertises a lower
price, we will not only match it, we'll beat it-guaranteed."
Win a Free Backyard Putting
Green from Tour Play
If your definition of a putting green is a more or less circular
area of smooth, lush grass whose verdant hue is the result of regular
watering and constant sobbing, bawling, and whimpering, then register
to win a backyard green from Tour Play at the Denver Golf Expo.
With your own practice green you can turn bawling into bravado.
Denver resident David Elger attended the Golf Expo last year and
ended up with a professionally installed synthetic putting green
in his back yard. Free, thanks to Stuart Rafos, owner of Tour Play.
Elger's
kidney-shaped green with challenging undulations and two cups is
no novelty set up. It's the real McCoy, with Tour Play's Accuracy
Turf that looks and feels just like finely manicured bent grass.
Designed and installed by Rafos, one of Colorado's top landscape
designers, Elger says he "absolutely loves" his new backyard
dream come true.
"I go out and make 40 or more putts every day," says Elger.
"I used to be scared of the six-foot putts, and would choke
on the course, now I have confidence and they're no big deal because
I practice daily."
To see examples of Tour Play's work, visit their Web site at www.puttsynthetic.com
or call Stuart Rafos at 970-222-6373 for more information.
Golf Club Swap Benefits CGA's Youth Programs
Out with the old and in with the new. It's time to clean out those
closets. Straighten up the garage and the basement. And for heaven's
sake get that old bag out of your car trunk.
The Colorado Golf Association (CGA) will again host the annual Golf
Club Swap at this year's Denver Golf Expo that benefits CGA's youth
programs.
All used golf equipment, including clubs, antique clubs, partial
sets or unused new clubs are all worth cash, which is worth more
than the dust they are collecting in the closet. With the discounts
offered by dealers at the Expo, you can use the cash from your old
clubs to buy new ones for the upcoming season.
At the Golf
Swap, CGA staff and volunteer teams will collect your used gear,
tag it and give you a registration number. The seller will determine
the sales price. If you need help setting a price, the CGA will
have experts on hand to help you determine a fair value for the
gear. If it sells, you receive 70 percent of the selling price back.
The 30 percent commission pays for the expenses of running the program
and all proceeds benefit the Colorado Golf Association's Youth Programs.
Here's what to do:
Drop off your used gear at the Denver Golf Expo entrance (Denver
Merchandise Pavilion) between noon and 6 p.m. Thursday, February
12, or between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday, February 13. Then show
up Sunday, February 15 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up your
cash. It doesn't get any simpler than that. Unclaimed cash or unsold
clubs will be donated to the Colorado Golf Association's Youth Programs.
If you don't want the cash it will help several children learn to
play.

'Tee
It Up For Life' with the Colorado PGA Foundation
Visit the Colorado PGA booth at this year's Denver Golf Expo and
shake the winter rust off your swing with a free lesson from one
of the PGA Professional volunteers.
The Colorado PGA's instructional booth with hitting bays will be
open and staffed by PGA professionals and apprentices during regular
show hours. The free 10-minute lessons will surely get your swing
warmed up.
The Foundation's "Tee It Up For Life" program, a partnership
with D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), was launched in
2001 and in 2003 served more than 900 kids in 30 Colorado schools.
"Tee
It Up For Life introduces students to the values and lessons we
enjoy while playing golf," says Johnson. "PGA Professional
volunteers turn those values into anti-drug and anti-violence messages
that encourage kids to choose healthy, positive recreational activities."
The Foundation also administers the Youth Golf Series Clinics through
a partnership with the International Golf Tournament. For more information
about the Colorado PGA Foundation and its services or to make a
donation, contact Tom Johnson at 303-681-0742 or visit www.coloradopga.com.
