2008 DGE Colorado Section PGA Swing Seminars

Golf Expo Seminars Designed to Elevate Your Game

Frequently, the difference between a good round of golf and a great round hinges on a few key shots: a picture-perfect drive, a dead-on approach or a clutch putt.

To help train your body and mind to achieve more good shots than bad, the Denver Golf Expo in conjunction with the Colorado Section of the PGA is providing a full slate of free seminars conducted by some of Colorado’s top teaching pros and covering subjects ranging from equipment to the rules of the game.

We are proud to offer these fabulous seminars to our attendees at this year’s Denver Golf Expo. Please view the offering below.

make a point to understand and know the Rules of Golf. This seminar will
focus on the most important Rules in the book. The seminar will emphasize
common Rules situations that you can immediately use in your next round of
golf.

Thomas Pagel - Assistant Executive Director, Colorado Golf Association. Thomas began with the CGA in 2002 as a USGA P.J. Don Ingermann, Founder & CEO
About twenty years ago, Don Ingermann sat in his office, thinking about his favorite game -- golf -- and decided to explore some opportunities he'd spotted in the highly competitive golf industry. Already highly successful as an inventor and owner of a high tech manufacturing company, he started a business and proceeded to design, manufacture, and sell the first automatic club cleaner. He then went on to make range ball machines for private clubs around the U.S.
Eventually Don sold both of his manufacturing companies and experimented with retirement. But sitting around wasn't enough for an entrepreneur. Don returned to the golf industry as CEO for the golf giant Ben Hogan, returning the company to profitability in two short years.
Don retired for a second time, but quickly gave it up again and started Dimension Z Golf, aiming to capture the precision-fit club market that Henry Griffitts Golf created some 15 years earlier. Six years later, Dimension Z is quickly becoming a major player, with new products, ongoing research, a growing list of fitting locations, and thousands of satisfied customers.
Brad Ingermann, Vice President, Master Club Technician
Brad Ingermann runs the day-to-day operations of Dimension Z Golf. Starting at age 6, he spent countless hours playing hockey, skiing and enjoying the game of golf. Currently he carries a single digit handicap when time allows him to play. Brad received a B.S. in Business Management at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts. Beginning in 1991 he began learning the physics of club design and honing his production and club building skills. His skills provide a superior edge to the quality of our products. Brad believes in bringing craftsmanship back into club building and does this one set at a time.

The Mental Side of the Game
By Diana Rowe

Looking at a par-5 with water hazards on both sides of the fairway and what looks like the Moab desert in the center, you say it. When lining up for a three foot putt on the 18th hole for a birdie, you silently repeat it. “Keep your head in the game” is a mantra that many use, but just how important is the mental side of the golf game?

Michael Riggs, M.Ed. says, “A golfer’s mental skills are a critical component to playing effectively on the course. All successful golfers have a clear vision of what trying to accomplish. We call this their performance vision. This vision could mean the entire season, next five years, or a small piece of the pie such as their next shot.”

With over 15 years of experience working as Mental Skills Coach, Riggs has presented to literally thousands of competitive players throughout the country, from renowned golf Mecca’s as Medinah Country Club and Butler National to legions of Junior and collegiate players desiring to improve their golf success. Riggs is the architect of ONE Way Golf, a proprietary mental skills development program designed for players who are seeking to reach extraordinary levels of success with their games.

Denver Golf Expo attendees will have a unique opportunity to attend a seminar featuring Riggs, who will teach you how to move confidently from practice range to competition; increase your concentration and emotional control; and help you not only cut strokes but also increase satisfaction.

ONE Way Golf is a best practices model, according to Riggs. He teaches that players need to “take the critical space between their ears and use it as a tool to play great golf. Fill the space with a positive image or visualization. If the player doesn’t, negative thoughts will climb in, like fear of outcomes, failure, where competition stands, or maybe even a previous shot. I teach players to work diligently and proactively on how to think and act.”

Too often golfers find themselves “stuck,” unable to move beyond a performance plateau. ONE Way Golf gives you practical tools to consistently advance your game. Riggs says when players think better, they play better.

Riggs is also the creator of Parent’s Pal, the acclaimed coaching program for the parent’s of junior golfers. For the parents in the audience, Riggs will talk about the junior golf world and present pointers. “I understand that at their core, parents want their young daughters and sons to play to their best ability. During the Denver Golf Expo, I will give examples of how a parent can maximize their child’s potential and help make the junior golf experience a positive and successful one.”

From Tiger Woods to the best Junior PGA Players, Riggs will present an overview on how champion golfers are trained to “think” through their game. During the Golf Expo seminars, Riggs will also give specific examples of his clients to illustrate how the ONE Way Golf model helped them manage the mental side of the golf game, a powerful combination of ownership, environment and execution.

“Even touring professionals challenge or struggle with the mental game,” says Riggs. “The difference between a pro and recreational golfer is that recreational players will end their game at the struggle stage, instead of working their way through it. A great player will put their mental game in their golf bag as an asset not a liability.”

Riggs will be presenting seminars throughout the Denver Golf Expo, February 8-10 at the Denver Merchandise Mart Plaza Hall. Or you can find out more about Michael Riggs, M.Ed. and his company, Performance Consulting Ltd., at www.PerformanceConsultingLtd.com, or at 970-674-2818.
