Nowadays, it’s easy to find used golf equipment on the Internet. But who really benefits from an online purchase? If you’re in the market for the odd iron, a proven driver or a starter set for that special someone in your life, visit the Colorado Golf Association’s Golf Club Swap during the 2008 Denver Golf Expo. Not only will you find great deals on previously owned equipment, but the proceeds will go directly to CGA Youth Programs, a non-profit entity that supports developmental programs such as those offered by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Colorado, Boy Scouts of Colorado, LPGA/USGA Girls in Golf, Special Olympics and Open Fairways. Much of the equipment in the swap is provided by clubs and pros who have asked members to donate clubs of all types, makes and sizes that they no longer use. Individuals may also donate clubs and choose to collect 70 percent of the selling price, with the balance going to CGA Youth Programs, or simply allow the CGA to keep all of the proceeds. Due to the organization’s non-profit status, any donations are eligible to be used as a tax deduction. Donations will be accepted at the Expo between noon and 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, and between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday, Feb. 8. Payments for items sold by consignment will be distributed between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Merchandise Mart. For more information on the swap and CGA Youth Programs, or to donate equipment at any time during the year, contact Director of Youth Programs Dustin Jensen at 303-974-2110.
